Memorial services held to remember those killed in shootings

Memorial services have been going on across Cumbria today to remember those killed in the shooting tragedy last Wednesday.

Services at seven different locations were held and a minute’s silence was observed at midday.

It’s to remember those killed when 52 year old Derrick Bird went on a shooting rampage murdering 12 people and wounding 11 others.

Tomorrow the funeral of one of the victims, 31 year old Gary Purdham from Gosforth will take place.

These were the scenes at St Nicholas Garden in Whitehaven as the residents fell silent.
