From Monday 26th July to Sunday 22nd August there is the a local history exhibition ‘Cockermouth At Play’ at the Kirkgate Centre in Cockermouth, taking a nostalgic look back over 150 years or so at leisure activities in the town will be staged by the Cockermouth Museum Group. This will include sporting activities of all kinds, clubs and societies including music and drama, carnivals and jubilee celebrations and much more. The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 4pm, admission is free and all are welcome.

This weekend, All Saint’s Church at Watermillock are holding an Open Garden Weekend with Wildflowers in Watermillock Churchyard. All are welcome to homemade refreshments in the church from 10am to 4:30pm with Sunday Morning Holy Communion from 11am to 12noon. The weekend will feature flower displays, competitions, stalls and more. Entry is free but donations are welcome.

Location: Carlisle Christian Spiritualist Church
On Saturday the Carlisle Christian Spiritualist Church presents An Evening of Clairvoyance with John Beattie, Elaine Hogan, Nancy Pattison and Ray Walker at Hawick Street. Doors open at 7pm for 7:30pm start (doors close at 7:20pm so please be prompt!) Tickets are £4.50 and available by calling 01228 547501. All proceeds will go to Help the Heroes and The Hospice.
 Charity Family Fun Day  12noon to 4pm    (Charity)
Location: Gretna
On Saturday the Gretna Hall Hotel will be hosting a huge Charity Family Fun Day as part of the hotel’s 300th anniversary celebration. Admission is free and the fun starts from 12noon and goes on till 4pm. As well as raising money for Cancer Research UK there will be a giant games, slide and wii, bouncy castle and bouncy boxing, the Big Al Roadshow, face painting, ice creams, BBQ and more.

Every Saturday in Summer, Thursby Parish Hall are holding a Garden Market Morning from 10am to 12noon, with plants, pots and more – think of it as a table top sale for your garden. To book a table for £6 (or half a table for £3) call 01228 710101.

 Broughton Red Rose Family Fun Day  10:30am    (Family)
Location: Broughton Rugby League Club, Papcastle Road, Broughton
On Saturday it's the Broughton Red Rose Family Fun Day at Broughton Rugby League Club. The fun starts at 10:30am and the day includes the U8's Rugby Tournament, a bouncy castle, golf, candy floss, tug-of-war, BBQ, bar and ice cream.
 Ryan Macdonald Testamonial Match  2:30pm    (Sports)
Location: haven RLFC
On Saturday there is the Ryan Macdonald Select and West Cumbria Select Rugby League Match at Whitehaven RLFC. The matches start at 7:30pm and entry is £7 for adults or £3 for children. Entertainment will be provided in the bar afterwards including a disco, auctions and raffles.
